As you all know more, 2018 was a very tough year for our family because we lost Alyssa to complications from CF. In addition to Alyssa, there have been nine (9) others that we were friends with on Facebook and who Alyssa was in contact with all the time. As recent as this week, we lost Addie Marie due to complications from CF. Addie was Alyssa's dear friend and someone she confided in daily. They are our CF Angels in Heaven.
Well, our fight has to continue. Tre is still fighting everyday and so are thousands with CF. To this end, we are asking you to join our 2019 CF Great Strides team. You all have been fantastic over the years and we hope you find it in your heart to continue. Tomorrow, November 30, 2018, is Signon day and we are trying to accelerate team membership sooner than later as we are less than 6 months from our walk, which is May 18, 2019 at Sawyer Point in Cincinnati, OH.
For 30 years, Great Strides – the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s largest national fundraising event – has supported the Foundation’s mission to cure cystic fibrosis and raise awareness for this rare, genetic, life-shortening disease that makes it difficult to breathe. By raising funds with us, you’ll help accelerate innovative research and drug development, as well as advance care and advocacy. Nearly every CF drug was made possible by the Foundation and because of funds raised from Great Strides, people with CF are living longer, healthier lives and pursuing their dreams.
We are working every day to build on this incredible momentum, and we won’t stop until there is a cure for all people living with CF.
There are still many more steps to be taken. Together, we can conquer this disease.
Join me and let’s LACE UP. WALK. and CURE CYSTIC FIBROSIS.
Important note on Attendance at Foundation Events:
Infections can exacerbate CF symptoms and worsen lung function, so we ask attendees at Foundation-sponsored events to observe the following best practices to reduce the risk of germ transmission:
Regularly wash hands with soap and water or with an alcohol-based hand gel.
Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue or your inner elbow.
Maintain a safe 6-foot distance from anyone with a cold or infection.
To further reduce the risk of cross-infection, the Foundation’s attendance policy recommends that all people with CF maintain a safe 6-foot distance from each other at all times while attending an outdoor Foundation-sponsored event. All Great Strides walks are non-smoking events.
